Delivering a sustainable legacy
From the design and construction of our new homes, through to the products we specify and the investment we pour into our communities, our focus is on being a force for good for both people and the planet.
To win the Gold Award for the second year running is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of Latimer’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. I'm incredibly proud of our team for their efforts in building communities that not only provide much-needed homes but also address the pressing environmental and social challenges of our time.

Gold Award: the UK's Most Sustainable Not-for-Profit Housebuilder
We're thrilled to have once again achieved the prestigious Gold Award for The UK's Most Sustainable Not-for-Profit Housebuilder, as recognised by the NextGeneration Benchmark.
For the second consecutive year, we’ve upheld our standing as the highest-ranked housing association developer and, for the first time, we've increased our position to become the second most sustainable homebuilder overall.
The NextGeneration Initiative is the sustainability benchmark for the UK's housebuilding sector. It evaluates the social, economic, and environmental performance of the top 25 housebuilders. The benchmark sets out the best practice and drives positive change across our industry. Our continued leadership in sustainability has cemented our position as a standout performer.
As the Group Director of Development at Latimer by Clarion Housing Group, I am pleased to present our Sustainability Report for 2023/24. This report highlights our strides in sustainable development over the last year and demonstrates our core mission to deliver more for our communities and the natural world.

Launch of the Latimer Sustainability Report 2023/24
In the year leading to this report being published we have seen significant progress as we continue to lead by example, being fully committed to our goal of becoming a net-zero carbon business by 2050.
We have also seen key achievements in the development of low carbon, low energy homes such as the completion of our Future Homes Standard project in East Hertfordshire, which demonstrates our commitment to innovative and sustainable housing solutions.
Considerable progress has also been made across various areas, such as:
- More than 500% increase in the number of trees planted on our development sites.
- Achieving a 98% persion of construction waste from landfill.
- Ensuring 33% of the new homes built in the year were fossil fuel-free.
- Achieving a Gold Award in the Next Generation Benchmark for the top 25 sustainable housebuilders.
Our efforts go beyond environmental measures
